Skystar

Skystar is the name that’s set to redefine Canadian reggae on the global stage. From Alberta’s icy streets to heating up stages across the world, he’s blazing a trail that no one has seen before. The first solo Reggae/Dancehall artist from Alberta to earn a JUNO Award nomination, he’s already making history in Western Canada. In 2024, Skystar also became the first Canadian artist of his genre to record at the iconic Coke Studio at L.A. Live, showing the world what happens when talent meets relentless ambition. Hailing from the tight-knit community of Mudtown in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Skystar’s rise wasn’t easy, but it was inevitable. Music became his escape, his sanctuary, and by the age of 15, his debut single Si Mi Yah was already dominating Jamaican airwaves. Since then, his catalog has become a testament to his raw talent and boundless drive—hits like High and Live featuring Shane O, Top Life, Gonna Be Ok featuring Jah Vinci, and 35 to Life have not only charted—they’ve carved his name into the fabric of Canadian reggae.

On stage, Skystar is pure energy. Whether in Canada or abroad, his live shows are an electrifying experience for fans new and old— having shared the stage with heavyweights like Alkaline, Burna Boy, Fantan Mojah, Queen Ifrica, and more, igniting crowds wherever he performs. His international presence took another leap in 2024 when he stole the spotlight at the New Skool Rules Music Festival in Rotterdam, further solidifying his global appeal. His accolades continue to pour in. Nominated for multiple awards at the 2024 Reggae North Music Awards, Kilimandjaro Music Awards, and Reggae Xclusive Awards, Skystar also walked away with Best Reggae Song of the Year at the Kilimandjaro Music Awards and the Award of Excellence at the 12th Annual Abedorc Awards—proving that the world is catching up to what Skystar’s been telling them all along.

His latest EP, Sky’s The Limit, is nothing short of electrifying. Tracks like Karma and Learnt have taken over the airwaves, landing on DJ Wiz’s Reggae Ology Vol. 1, RebelVibez’s Top 10 Canadian Reggae Chart, and CBC Radio’s Key of A. The project has been embraced by radio stations and DJs across Canada and Jamaica, with a spot in the Edmonton Public Library’s Capital City Records marking another milestone in Skystar’s growing influence and further cementing Skystar’s impact on the Canadian reggae music scene. Now, with his first JUNO Award nomination for Best Reggae Recording at the 2025 JUNO Awards, Skystar’s setting new standards in Canadian reggae music and the momentum is undeniable— His signature sound and fierce drive are propelling him forward—one step closer to becoming the global sensation reggae music has been waiting for and making Canada proud. Stay locked in, because the world is watching, and Skystar is ready to deliver.
