Skystar
It’s often from humble and tough beginnings that a fiery, fighting spirit in creative expression is
born. So can be said of Edmonton-based Ainsworth Rose, better known to audiences as Skystar, the
multifaceted Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall Artiste blazing his own explosive trail on the Canadian
music scene.
With a music career that spans over a decade, Skystar’s work is not to be mistaken for amateur.
Collaborating with critically acclaimed producers in Jamaica , United States, and in Canada –
notably Bobby Digital, Calibuds, Pandemic Records, Wizdom
Entertainment, Cornelius Records, DJ Lethal Vybez,
Konsequence Muzik Group, Diet Monkey Entertainment Inc.
Flo1music, Wall Street Records and Dean Mundy – Skystar’s
portfolio has proven countless times over to true dancehall
patrons that he has major energy to bring, cementing him as the
next seasoned independent reggae and dancehall act to blow up
the mainstream.
Growing up in the small community of Mudtown in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Skystar knows first hand what it is to build oneself from the ground up.
As a boy, his family experienced deep hardship that
would leave them displaced without a steady home and struggling to survive at any given turn for
many years. Nevertheless, dealing with life struggles as a young man maturing is where Skystar
found his passion for songwriting and music as a refuge— a place of escape where he turned his
sorrows into melodies. By the age of 15, with raw talent and perseverance, Skystar’s very first
single “Si mi Yah” made heavy rotation on Jamaican radio, gaining him local notoriety and an
instant reputation as a true reggae artist with vibes on vibes. He ‘s been unstoppable ever since.
Since relocating to Canada, among his career accolades under his own record label GLZ RECORDS,
Skystar’s released numerous big tunes including High and Live featuring Shane O, Top Life,
Trouble featuring Kaje, Gonna Be Ok featuring Jah Vinci and 35 to Life, which alone has already
garnered over 100, 000 video views on YouTube.
Skystar’s not shy to the stage either, performing all across the country, touring Quebec, Ontario and
Western Canada. In recent years, he’s opened for many global Reggae/Dancehall acts such as:
I-Octane, Pamputee, Babycham, Jah Vinci, Shane O, Silkboss, General Trees, Alkaline, Fantan Mojah,
Queen Ifrica, and Charlie Blacks to name a few. When not on the road, Skystar stays booked and
busy right here in Alberta, making featured live appearances as part of the growing reggae and
dancehall nightlife scenes in Calgary and Edmonton.
Along with music, a little known fact about Skystar is how he also pours his passions into the
culinary world! As a foodie with a talent for international cooking, the kitchen is the other place
you’ll find him; that is, when he’s not whipping up something spicy in the studio.
Guaranteed, the universe is infinite for Skystar – bold, unique, artistically gifted, determined and
making tasteful moves with more to come for reggae fans EVERYWHERE. Be sure to stay connected
with Skystar on all social media and digital platforms. You’ll definitely NOT want to miss all the
latest getting served up by this big time artist.
